Dr. Gonzales studies the public health components of Nutrition & Medical Science Education involve increasing the presence of underrepresented populations in nutrition and health profession fields (i.e. medical, dental, veterinary, food science, and community nutrition). I also promote the development of nutrition and health training programs focused on underrepresented populations to alleviate health disparities. Further, I assess cultural proficiency and communication of health care professionals that engage with Hispanic populations. I favor interdisciplinary approaches to biological questions and have published works that demonstrate incorporation of biochemical and bioengineering approaches to my research.
