Dr Metcalf’s primary focus in the department is teaching, but I also serve as the Program Coordinator for the Anatomy and Physiology program and I am actively involved in curriculum development for the Introductory Biology labs. The vast majority of students that I teach are First Semester, First Time in College Freshman. This is by choice, as I believe that I can have the greatest impact on students at this point in their academic career. Teaching in the Freshman Learning Communities allows me to help students make the transition from high school student to college student a little less painful by helping them develop the tools and mindset necessary to help them succeed in their upper level classes as well as their chosen careers.
