College of Science & Technology Welcomes South Central Conference of Computer Science
The CCSC South Central Conference chose The Island University as its 2008 location. Friday and Saturday, April 18th and 19th, saw an influx of faculty, students, and staff from Colleges and Universities all over the Central United States, and some representatives from as far as Minnesota, New Jersey, Idaho, and California.
Pictured is Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi faculty member, Rita Sperry. Sperry, along with colleague Phyllis Tedford, gave a presentation titled “Implementing Peer-Led Team Learning in Introductory Computer Science Courses.”
The 2-day conference utilized facilities in both the TAMUCC University Center and the Center for Instruction. Concurrent presentation sessions ran both Friday and Saturday covering a multitude of Computer Science education topics, and informal gatherings took place at Kokomo’s, part of the Holiday Inn Emerald Beach outside downtown Corpus Christi.
Institutions represented were Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, Sam Houston State University, State College of New Jersey, Texas A&M International University, St. Cloud State University, Southeastern Louisiana University, Midwestern State University, Louisiana State University-Shreveport, Bossier Parish Community College, University of Houston, St. Edward’s University, University of Texas-Brownsville, Texas Christian University, University of New Orleans, Jackson State University, Lubbock Christian University, Lewis-Clark State College, Purdue University, Texas A&M-Commerce, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, California State University-Stanislaus, Fort Hayes State University, University of Central Oklahoma, Armstrong Atlantic State University, Kennesaw State University, McNeese State University, Mary Kay Tarver East Central University, and the Oracle Retail Global Business Unit.
