Non-Thesis Semester-by-Semester Schedule

Completing the Mariculture Program After Applying and Being Admitted to the University and Program

1st Semester

  1. Course leveling, if necessary
  2. Define area of interest (e.g., shrimp nutrition, pond water quality, intensive finfish culture, etc.)
  3. Develop Degree Plan

2nd Semester

  1. Identify specific internship interest
  2. Meet with prospective cooperators (private, public sector)
  3. Select two cooperators
  4. Acceptance by cooperators
  5. Select Graduate Committee
  6. Complete internship agreement form

Remaining Semesters

  1. Internship I (18-29 hr/wk) for one semester (requires registration in FAMA 5998 with appropriate credit hour load)
  2. Internship II (18-29 hr/wk) for one semester (requires registration in FAMA 5998 with appropriate credit hour load)
  3. Prepare Professional Paper
  4. Submit Professional Paper first draft to Chair of Graduate Committee
  5. Correct editorial comments as per Chair, re-submit to Chair
  6. Submit edited version of Professional Paper to other Members of Graduate Research Committee
  7. Apply for Graduation (must be completed within deadline as specified in Schedule of Classes for the semester in which you are graduating)
  8. Oral examination (final semester, attended by Graduate Research Committee)
  9. Acceptance of professional paper (requires passing oral examination, usually after presentation, by Graduate Committee Members)

Final step is Graduation (you made it!!!)
