Geographic Information Science Student Organization (GISSO)

Geographic Information Science Student Organization (GISSO) is a student group composed of GISc and GSEN students. The goal of the group is to promote education in the fields of GIS and Surveying. Throughout the year, the students participate in fundraising and volunteer events. The group meets weekly at the Conrad Blucher Institute to discuss upcoming events and brainstorm ideas.

GISSO is a student chapter of the National Society of Professional Surveyors and the Texas Society of Professional Surveyors (TSPS).

GISSO List-Serv

The GISSO List-Serv is heavily used by students, faculty and alumni.  This list is primarily used for event announcements, job/internship announcements, meeting updates and University announcements.

Lambda Sigma

Lambda Sigma is an honor society for GISc students who meet the eligibility criteria. Members of Lambda Sigma must maintain a 3.0 GPA.

Honorary Member Rules: General members provide recommendation with no less than three written recommendation letters to include specific reasons why this nominee contributed significantly to the areas set forth in Article II of the ByLaws. Board review recommendations and make motions to call for a vote to award by general membership 2/3 of of submitted votes. Award offered from the board.
